Talk Study University of Birmingham
About
Us
We
are an experienced and committed team of researchers
from the University of Birmingham who have been funded
to carry out a research study exploring communication
within families about genetic conditions and genetic
risk information. Our work has been approved by The
Liverpool Paediatric Research Ethics Committee.
The
Genetic Interest Group (GIG) and a team of lay advisor
families including children, young people and their
parents have been assisting and informing the development
of The Family Talk Project and we are now recruiting
participant families.
As part of the study
we would like to interview families including parents,
children and young people affected by Familial Adenomatous
Polyposis.
We realise there are
many sensitive issues involved and have developed the
study to manage and address them, with the help of our
lay advisor group and relevant health professionals.
We aim to recruit families
who have been aware of their family member's diagnosis
for at least a year and have appropriate support networks.
